EmpressCat This album is amazing. Most tracks are beautiful and melodically soothing. It's hard to choose a favorite, but night driving for the lost empath is probably the easiest to fall into for me. Thank you again for sharing this with the world, it's been much appreciated.💖 Favorite track: night driving for the lost empath.

Ambient textures and atmospheric moodscapes create an evocative collection of music from several years of recording as The Itzamna Collective, collected and reconstructed for the first of many releases of our extensive experiments and material.

A gentle introduction glides the listener through the night, dropping into the powerful mental landscape of title track Kára and the ice flows that follow, a mapping of geological time and the tragedy and melancholia of the human condition.

A gentle warming of the heart begins as we move into the next movements, rhythmic pulses and beats pull us into ourselves. The thawing and freezing process closes out into a darker beauty, still calm but acknowledging loss and the eventual landscape that will overcome the arrogance of humanity.

Melancholia is a powerful creative tool, subtle to those who sense it’s beauty, and the empathy and compassion that can overwhelm the senses and our life experiences.

Although ambiguity is key to the listener’s interpretation, these pieces embrace many themes from deep resonance of connection to the nature that surrounds us, that touches us deeply, and the empathy that we can sense to feel deep love, or deep suffering and sadness.

These are meditations on the deepest part of our emotions and compassion, the love so deep it hurts, the trauma that accumulates and the desire to escape into the ocean of creative beauty we can all access.

We have attempted to instill emotion into our recordings, maybe we have failed. It’s ok to fail. Nothing lasts forever. There is no perfection or need to compete. For us this process is therapy, and a perfect union between 2 people who have a deep understanding of each other and the pain and laughter that life brings us. From art and music we can combine into a project that is from the heart.

If you are suffering from depression or PTSD, then know that somewhere out there is someone who understands. If you can find the right person to help you, we wish you luck, it is not easy to find that person, but they are out there. There is no shame in suffering, we hope you can find mental tools to overcome these issues, even if you are in a fugue state or feel helpless. The track Cold Night On The OD Trail is expressing exactly that point of near departure and is a deeply personal experience that maybe there is no recovering from. I decided to make this piece of music transcendental, though the experience it stems from was definitely not so beautiful. This is the experience of life, so that is all we set out to achieve.

This album was created using a mixture of synthesis, electronics, field recordings in several locations, guitar and some collected Mayan instruments from Mexico.
